Dredging Fleet Overview
Draca Marine operates a flexible and capable dredging fleet, offering practical solutions for maintenance and capital dredging throughout the UK. Based at Weston Point, we support a wide range of marine, port, and inland waterway clients — from precision dock clearance to full-scale reclamation projects.
Our vessels are equipped for both high-output production and fine, controlled dredging, supported by experienced crews and modern equipment. This allows us to deliver efficient, safe, and environmentally responsible dredging operations tailored to each site’s unique conditions.
WP Chancer – Trailing Suction Dredger
The WP Chancer is Draca Marine’s primary trailing suction hopper dredger, purpose-built for large-scale maintenance and capital works. It delivers high dredging output while maintaining precision and control across a wide range of seabed materials.
Fitted with a powerful trailing suction system, the Chancer efficiently removes and transports sediment for placement or reclamation. The vessel also features:
An onboard screening system for material processing and quality control.
Optional barge loading and dewatering equipment, enabling flexible offloading options for varied project requirements.
Integrated survey and monitoring systems to support accurate dredge management.
Ideal for navigation channel and berth maintenance, capital dredging, and coastal reclamation, the Chancer provides dependable performance with minimal downtime — a proven workhorse for demanding marine environments.
Admiral Day – Grab Hopper Dredger
The Admiral Day is a grab hopper dredger designed for small, intricate, and confined dredging operations where precision and manoeuvrability are key. Compact and versatile, the vessel excels in areas that restrict access for larger dredgers.
It carries a range of attachments, including:
An excavator-mounted dredge pump with a capacity of up to 600m³ per hour.
Multiple clamshell and specialist grab buckets for targeted excavation and debris removal.
Previous projects include bank stabilisation along the Manchester Ship Canal and precision dredging around dock gates at Cammell Laird’s dry docks, demonstrating the vessel’s capability in both technical and sensitive environments.
The Admiral Day offers a safe, efficient, and cost-effective solution for small harbour, river, and dock maintenance works — complementing the WP Chancer as part of Draca Marine’s comprehensive dredging fleet.
MSC Dumb Barge
Previously owned and operated by PeelPorts, the dumb barge was acquired by Draca Marine at the end of 2023 as part of our ongoing investment in fleet capacity and operational flexibility. Following its procurement, the barge underwent a full overhaul and refurbishment, including structural maintenance, repainting, and outfitting for integration into our current operations. As shown in the pictures it is now fully restored and ready for service, expanding our capacity for transporting aggregates and supporting our growth at Weston Point and beyond.
